I still remember the first time I rode a dropship over Storm Point. Season 11 had just added Apex Legends' fourth map, and from the moment the cloud layer broke I felt small. It was the biggest map at launch, larger than World's Edge, all mountains, waterfalls, beaches and jungle. In 2026 I still think of it as a map of choices rather than one obvious hot drop. There is no Fragment or Skull Town pulling half the lobby into a single block, so the drop decision is personal. That is why I made this first-person tour of my favourite landing spots. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-0

Here is the quick version I wish I had on day one:

Drop spot Vibe Best for
Fish Farms 🐟 Quiet edge Learning, safe loot
Lightning Rod ⚡ Tactical perch High ground, vision
Barometer 🧭 Central pivot Fast rotations
North Pad 🏔️ Remote height Quiet plus advantage
Cenote Cave 🕷️ Choke with spiders Control, ammo farming
Cascade Falls 💧 Passing lane Quick gear, defensive play
Storm Catcher 🌩️ Indoor fight Close-quarters combat
Checkpoint 🏙️ Town with escape Loot and clean getaways
The Wall 🧱 Reliable hot drop Immediate action
Highpoint 🎈 Best high ground Defense, long rotations

Fish Farms: My Quiet Start

I go to Fish Farms when I want to breathe. It sits in the southeast corner, isolated and on the map's edge, which keeps third-party risk low. The buildings hold plenty of good loot. Water separates them, and that inconvenience is exactly why many kill-hungry players skip the area. If I am learning Storm Point, or just want a relaxed beginning, this is my pick. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-1

Lightning Rod: The Tactical Perch

When I want position, I pick Lightning Rod in the northeast. It is the highest point on the map, and on a map built around verticality that matters. I can spot other players from up there. If I survive the drop, I can hold the high ground when the ring moves upward, or come at unsuspecting foes from above when the ring pushes us down. That is a win-win on Storm Point. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-2

Barometer: The Central Pivot

Barometer is south of the map's centre, and I love it for one simple reason: options. Its position allows easy rotations by land or water to the north, west and east. I can drop in, get geared up and move out quickly in any direction. If I want to get into the ring fast, or find action fast, Barometer is the ideal place to land. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-3

North Pad: Quiet With Height

North Pad is in the northwest corner, and like Fish Farms it is remote. That makes it another good option for a less crowded drop. Unlike Fish Farms, though, North Pad is near the mountains and that all-important high ground. If the quietness of Fish Farms appeals to me but the low ground worries me, North Pad is my answer. I drop in, loot up and quickly move to take height. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-4

Cenote Cave: The Choke With Spiders

Cenote Cave is an expansive POI on its own island at the bottom of the map. It is low ground, but it still has great strategic value. Storm Point's waterways mean that anyone on the bottom half of the map looking to travel west by land has to move through Cenote Cave. That makes controlling the cave very tactically valuable. I also like the spider eggs, which let me farm ammo and weapon attachments by killing the spiders, just like the island's prowlers. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-5

Cascade Falls: The Passing Lane

Cascade Falls is not the exact centre of Storm Point, but it is the closest POI to it. It does not have the size to support Fragment-scale drops, but its position means players will travel through it, either on foot or in the Trident cars found around the map. When I drop there, I either get geared up and get out quickly to avoid third parties, or I arm up and play defensively, preying on teams passing through. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-6

Storm Catcher: My Close-Quarters Pick

Storm Catcher is east of the map's centre, and unlike many POIs on Storm Point it is largely indoors. That makes it ideal for players who prefer close-quarters fighting. If I have been practising in tighter arenas and want to bring those skills to battle royale, I give Storm Catcher a shot. It is not without outside combat, though. A few balconies allow long-range defence against teams pushing the building, so if I can conquer the interior, I can hold it down. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-7

Checkpoint: The Escape Hatch

Checkpoint is northwest of the centre and feels like a fairly standard town-style location: connected buildings, plenty of loot. One thing sets it apart. The whole place is suspended above a dense jungle. That means if things get too chaotic, I can bail out and jump into the trees below, using the thick foliage for cover as I escape. Checkpoint is great for anyone who likes a clean getaway when fights get too intense. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-8

The Wall: The Reliable Hot Drop

The Wall is north of the map and serves as the barrier between the northern beach and the mountain. It is a large area, so it has plenty of loot and space for many teams. Those factors combine to mean many teams will land there, and many more will move through once the initial fighting dies down. It will not be Fragment-scale, but The Wall should be a fairly reliable hot drop on Storm Point. It is perfect for players like me when I want action as soon as I touch down. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-9

Highpoint: The Best High Ground

As the name suggests, Highpoint is on Storm Point's ever-valuable high ground. It is small, but it offers far more strategic benefit than its size suggests. It acts as a choke point to the very top of the mountain, allowing me to defend against teams passing through either way. Highpoint also contains Storm Point's only redeploy balloon, which gives it even more tactical value. That balloon is seriously tall, so combined with the POI's existing height, I can get some serious distance when it is time to move out. Elsewhere on the map, Storm Point uses gravity cannons instead, launching players like stronger versions of Octane's jump pad. storm-point-drop-guide-a-first-person-tour-of-apex-legends-biggest-map-image-10

In 2026, Storm Point is no longer the new map, but it still teaches the same lesson: the drop is a mood. If I want to learn, I choose Fish Farms or North Pad. If I want action, I choose The Wall or Storm Catcher. If I want position, I choose Lightning Rod or Highpoint. If I want rotations, I choose Barometer or Cascade Falls. If I want a choke, I choose Cenote Cave, The Wall or Highpoint. That is how I turn a huge, overwhelming map into a series of clear, personal choices.
